Techne’s tutor isn’t a chatbot that writes your code. It’s a Socratic guide: when you’re stuck, it asks the question that gets you unstuck, points you at the concept you’re missing, and lets you make the leap yourself.
That’s a deliberate design choice. Anyone can get an answer handed to them now; what’s rare is actually understanding it. The tutor is built to never rob you of the moment where it clicks, so what you learn is yours to keep and yours to defend.

Do I need coding experience?
Some helps, but no. Techne meets you where you are: the planner sequences concepts so each lesson builds on the last, and the tutor is there whenever you’re stuck. You learn to code by writing real code from day one.
How does the grading actually work?
Your code is really executed in a sandbox and checked against behavioral tests, not multiple choice. You see exactly which checks pass and which fail, and a gate only clears once your work proves you’ve got it.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free lets you audit every lesson and run ungraded practice in the sandbox. Pro unlocks the graded path: your work advances mastery, gates open, and you can earn verifiable credentials. Pro is $49/month, or $299/year (about a third off).
Can a credential really be failed?
Yes, that’s the point. Higher titles are hard-gated behind a timed capstone and an adversarial defense. A credential that can’t be failed doesn’t mean anything; ours does because it can.
Which languages can I build in?
Today you can write and run JavaScript, Python, and React, with live preview beside the editor. The concept graph is language-aware, so the curriculum adapts to the stack you choose for each project.
